A provider has been chosen to operate the new Nowra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) following a competitive tender process led by the South Eastern New South Wales Primary Health Network.
The Albanese Government is pleased to announced Grand Pacific Health as the successful provider to operate the Nowra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic which will be located at 107 Scenic Drive, Nowra NSW.
The clinic will be open seven days a week operating extended hours.
The new clinic will begin delivering urgent care for the community over the coming months.
The clinic will help to ease pressure on the Shoalhaven Hospital emergency department, where around 55 per cent of presentations in 2023-24 were for semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.
Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips said she was delighted a provider had been appointed.
“I know how much the people of Nowra need and have been eagerly waiting for our new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic," she said.
“It was an important election commitment that I made, and I’m so thrilled to be delivering it.
“It is in a great location near Shoalhaven Hospital and will take the pressure off the emergency department and local doctors.
“When the doors open in the coming months, people in and around Nowra will be able to walk into the new federally funded Nowra Urgent Care Clinic and receive the health care they need, without waiting hours in the ED, and with just their Medicare card.”

The Nowra Medicare UCC will join the existing network of 23 Medicare UCCs across New South Wales.
91 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are in operation across Australia, which have already seen more than 2.2 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023. This includes over 452,000 presentations to the existing New South Wales UCCs.
Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles said all Australians deserve access to accessible and free urgent care, fully bulk billed.
"That is why the Albanese Government is making the largest investment in Medicare in over 40 years, so we can build our nation’s future,” he said.
“The new Nowra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will make an enormous difference for the local community and local health services.”
Minister Butler said the Albanese Government was getting on with the job of delivering more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics for people in New South Wales.
“The new clinic in Nowra will be open seven days a week, extended hours and most importantly will be fully bulk billed,” he said.
“This clinic will take pressure off the local hospitals, including the Shoalhaven Hospital, and will fill an important gap in services across extended hours and over the weekend.”
