Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP has welcomed the recent announcement of $3.6 million towards much-needed improvements to Currarong Road.

Funded jointly by Commonwealth and state stimulus cash, this road upgrade will see long-awaited works finally completed on this notorious stretch of road.

Since being elected, Fiona Phillips has raised concerns about the state of Currarong Road in the Parliament and directly with the Minister on many occasions and she was happy to see the government start to listen to the concerns of the community.

“I have long supported the community’s calls for funding to be allocated towards this important local road and I am pleased to see this road finally getting the attention it deserves,” Mrs Phillips said.

“I know how important our local roads are and this will not only make the road safer for the community, it will help to create local jobs and stimulate our economy, which is exactly what our community needs as we recover from the hits of this year,” she said.

“I would like to sincerely thank the Currarong Community Association and members of the Currarong community, as well as Shoalhaven City Council for their years of campaigning and advocacy on this issue – this is a true win for local people,” Fiona Phillips said.
