PHILLIPS BLASTS LIBERAL GOVERNMENT OVER FAILURE TO
OPEN DISASTER GRANTS TO FLOOD IMPACTED MOGO BUSINESSES
Federal member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, has blasted the Liberal Government for again failing to open flood disaster recovery small business grants to businesses in Mogo.
Many businesses have extensive damage and the repair bills run into the tens of thousands of dollars.
Ten days ago, Mr Constance said “a statement will be issued by the Minister to confirm that support would be forthcoming to those impacted by the recent flood event”….”I’m advised that Service NSW will be updating their information so that people can gain access”.
However, ten days later, the Service NSW Flood Disaster Recovery Small Business Grant remains closed to new applicants.
“This is the most woeful response from the Liberal Government at all levels”, Mrs Phillips said.
“The Mogo community has been through the most horrific and tumultuous time over recent years. Businesses here need support”, Mrs Phillips continued.
“Mr Constance seems to find time to stand in front of the camera and plan his political career but meanwhile he’s deserted the community”, Mrs Phillips said.
“I’m again calling on the Liberal Government to ensure that flood impacted businesses in Mogo are immediately given access to flood disaster recovery small business grants and support”, Mrs Phillips concluded.
The Member for Gilmore is also again encouraging any businesses in Mogo that have had difficulties with flood insurance related claims to contact her office so the Member can raise individual issues with the Insurance Council of Australia.
