Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips MP and the Albanese Labor Government are supporting local people across the South Coast with real cost of living relief.

In just three years, Labor’s sensible and targeted economic plan has seen inflation come down from over 6 per cent to 2.4 per cent, while keeping unemployment low.

Interest rates have also started to come down and real wages are growing again, with pay rises for those on minimum wage, and funded wage increases for workers in aged care and child care.

Cost of living relief has also been delivered through a tax cut for every taxpayer, energy bill relief, cheaper medicines, cheaper child care, and boosts to Commonwealth rent assistance.

Fiona Phillips says there is still more to do. A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver further tax cuts for every tax payer, along with a $1000 instant tax reduction for workers, an extra $150 in energy bill relief for every household and supporting an economically sustainable real wage increase for all workers on awards.

Local people will see a real reduction in healthcare costs, with more bulk billing for all Australians so people can see a GP for free, cheaper medicines by cutting the maximum cost of PBS medicines to $25, new Urgent Care Clinics in Nowra and Shellharbour and an extension of the hours at the Batemans Bay Urgent Care Clinic.

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program will also slash energy bills across a solar panel powerhouse like Gilmore, which has 33,000 local installations.

At the same time, Labor will deliver cost of living relief to local families with 20 per cent off all HECS debt, a Three-Day Guarantee for early childhood education subsidies and legislation to make supermarket price gouging illegal by the end of the year.

This Saturday, local people in the electorate of Gilmore face a real choice: to vote for cost of living relief under an Albanese Labor Government or risk Peter Dutton’s cuts to pay for his $600 billion nuclear energy scheme.

Quotes attributable to Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips MP:

"Cost of living support is my top priority. Labor’s economic plan is all about helping Australians earn more and keep more of what they earn.

“We’re putting money back into the pockets of local people with permanent tax cuts for every taxpayer and three rounds of power bill relief, with an additional $150 in energy rebates to be delivered to homes and businesses from 1 July this year.

“I’m particularly proud that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver a new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Nowra and extended hours at the Batemans Bay clinic, as well as an expanded Nowra Medicare Mental Health Centre.

“There’s more to do – and if I am re-elected, I will keep working hard to support local people deal with the cost of living pressures."
